With the high cost of living these days, millions of Kenyans are craving to live in their own homes
A number of scammers have taken advantage of this opportunity to con innocent people off their hard earned money in the name of building them a home
In 2007, Mr Eric Gitonga who was residing in Australia at the time, planned to build a dream home for his family back in Kenya. Gitonga was introduced to a local housing company that promised to help him realize his dream but that never came to be. At first everything worked on well, but he started to get suspicious when the company begun changing their terms of agreement, even demanding full project payment before the foundation was complete.
After seven grueling months of back and forth, Gitonga ended up paying over KSh 4.2 million for just the foundation. He shared his harrowing experience with his friend, Farrowson Murithi, and from this Murithi saw an opportunity to offer a solution to many desiring home owners. READ
Murithi’s previous experience in the real estate industry was an added advantage that led him to form the Pacific Reality Investment Ltd, which today has built dozens of private residential and commercial projects in Nairobi and other counties. Gitonga’s home was the first project that Pacific Realty Company undertook, and in just 16 weeks, Gitonga was smiling happily in his dream home.
Caroline Waithera also dreamed of living in her own home and this was almost shattered owing to the estimate costs she received from different contractors, while planning for her 3 bedroom, master ensuite bungalow.
Majority of the contractors she approached said her savings of KSh 3 million was not enough for the project – not until her friend introduced her to Pacific Reality Investment Ltd. “Mr. Murithi told me that I could get my three-bedroom master ensuite house with a dining room and separate laundry room for just KSh1.6 million,” Waithera said.
At first, I did not believe it was possible to build your house cheaply, especially given the classy finishes I wanted. I was tempted to dismiss the firm as a sham and only committed myself after seeing several other projects it had carried out on a similar budget,” she added. Waithera says she moved in 12 weeks after the construction began.
“Building a house need not cost an arm and a leg,” said Murithi during an interview at his Ruai office. Most project costs quickly balloon out of control due to poor planning and builders not being informed about the current trends in the construction industry. “With proper organization, consultation with experts and close supervision, clients can avoid burning their fingers,” the CEO said. No budget is too high or too low to get you a house, it all depends on your preference”, he added as we drive off to see some of their projects. All projects done and managed by the Pacific Realty Investment firm come with power and water connection to the house, and a septic tank.
Houses come at a highly affordable rate what with a 2 bedroom bungalow (master ensuite) going for only KSh 1.3 million, a 3 bedroom maisonette at KSh 3 million and even an executive READ ALSO: Sports CS under fire over reckless statements he made in Nyeri Clients get to choose between three unique finishes: the Standard finish, Semi Executive finish and Executive finish that has gypsum ceilings and decra roofing. “We are currently building a 2 bedroom bungalow house for a client who is only 24 years old at a budget of about ksh.1.3M. He has preferred to stop paying rent early and live in his own house. “
then this happens Murithi added that most Kenyans fear building homes yet they’re unaware of the fact that if one qualifies for a loan of more than KSh 1 million, they are able to own a home and complete payment within six years.
All projects handled by Pacific Realty Investment are financed by clients or their financial institutions, thus payments are made in phases as the project proceeds, giving clients the chance to inspect the progress and pay upon satisfaction of works done. A full in house team walks with the client from getting the drawings ready, the approval process and the whole construction process to the end.
The firm partners with leading real estate companies like Optiven Limited as one of their main contractors to build for their clients dream homes, proving that their work is actually of superior quality. “We believe every Kenyan who wishes to own a home can own one since your budget is never too low for us to deliver, we will discuss and offer a solution to every client coming to us,” Murithi added. Mercy Kibe, a beneficiary of the Pacific Realty Investment firm, received a huge reward of an all expenses paid trip to Amboseli National park in February courtesy of the firm’s #PRIReferral program, which rewards people for referring clients to them.
Pacific Reality Investment builds on any part of the country and they allow clients to visit their past sites and interact with clients who have built with them.
